DISA Central battle captain lends a helping hand at MacDill Air Force Base

The Defense Information Systems Agency Central Field Command remains vigilant in its operational mission focus, and battle captains are a lynchpin for U.S. Central Command Headquarters and the forward presence in the central region.

Additionally, the team focuses on the community and the need to “improve its foxhole.”

The Gary Sinise Foundation?visited MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, July 8 to entertain the local service members, civilians and families with a performance from Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band.

The band frequently visits military bases in the United States and abroad with the mission to “serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.”

Army Staff Sgt. Emmanuel Angulo, DISA Central battle captain, seized the opportunity to volunteer at the monumental event.

“I saw the opportunity in an email and some friends asked if I was going to the show, so it was on the forefront of my mind,” said Angulo. “Live music is always a blast!”

He assisted with the stage setup and assisted security forces in providing a safe and friendly environment for the attendees.

“When I heard about helping security forces, I really liked the idea of being there to provide a sense of safety to the guests,” he said. “I met with the POCs [points of contact] a few hours before the concert and I got to do a little bit of everything – setup, security and some teardown.”

Angulo was pleased to meet and engage with two Gold Family Members and?was moved?by their stories during the event.

“The concert and the vibes were great, but I underestimated the impact, for sure,” he said. “I got to meet a lot of people and guests, but the stories of the Gold families were very touching. It was their first LT. Dan Band concert and it meant so much to them to be there.”

The event was a success and mutually beneficial to building a solid and lasting relationship between the MacDill Air Force Base community and DISA Central Field Command.

“The Gary Sinise Foundation’s mission truly has a positive influence,” said Angulo. “It was a long and hot day, but overall easy and definitely well worth it.”
