Dirty Shirley
Welcome back, or if it’s your first time here, take a seat, and I’ll fix you a drink.
Today, we are going to look at a Dirty Shirley.? Yes, you heard me right, we are taking a classic mocktail the Shirley Temple, and spiking it.
Let's start with some ingredients:
- c. 5 oz lemon lime beverage (Sprite / 7up etc)
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Grenadine
- 2 Maraschino Cherries.
Strong recommendation to use ‘real’ grenadine. this would be something that is pomegranate and sugar. Not one that is sugar and red 40. That isn’t actually grenadine its. Red sugar syrup.
Real grenadine doesn’t have as bright a hue, but it tastes 10x better.
Strong recommendation to get some cherries steeped in liquor, whisky or brandy, If we are going to make this drink dirty then we might as well go all the way.
What Glass should I use,…
- A highball
- A lowball
What hardware do I need?
- Spoon
- Measuring jiggger
Directions - Let's do this; let's make a drink!
Lets start by placing ice in the glass, a big cube of you are using a lowball, or crushed /pebble ice if you are using a highball.
Pour your Grenadine and Vodka in, top these with the soda.
Gently stir this around a little but not too aggressively.
Place two cherries atop your ice.

Tips
You can make many of these at once easily,? ice first in all the glasses, then the Grenadine, then the Vodka then finally soda in each glass. Don’t forget the cherries!
Keep your Vodka in the freezer, always. Unless it’s a really expensive Vodka.
