Memorial Day Message From Stu Keeter:
As a veteran, Memorial Day on May 29th holds a very special meaning for me. It’s a day to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. While Memorial Day is a solemn occasion, it’s also a reminder of the strength and resilience of our nation. We can honor those who have fallen by coming together as a community, supporting our veterans and active-duty service members, and striving to live up to the ideals that they fought and died for.
As we gather with family and friends to enjoy the unofficial start of summer, It's important that we never forget their sacrifice and take some time to reflect on this 186th Decoration Day.
In recognition of Memorial Day, I want to highlight a local program called Flags For Heroes that fundraises for community service projects as well as veteran services. Everyone knows a hero and this is a good way to thank and remember them:

The Value of Retaining Deskless Workers:
Retention of deskless workers is a hot topic throughout the entire labor market. A lot of research and common workplace habits are derived from the typical office-desk setting of jobs. But this approach fails to include the deskless workers who represent up to 80% of the world’s workforce. This includes the vast majority of construction workers who are out in the field. For many deskless workers that are thinking of quitting, pay isn’t even the main reason for leaving. Some primary concerns for these workers who are thinking about leaving their jobs are feeling respected and valued for their work and being treated fairly. Without these things, not even a great counteroffer can help retain an employee who has, emotionally, already moved on.
There are several simple ways to try to avoid this kind of unfortunate turnover. Building great managers who are themselves supported can help avoid burnout. More generally, making work better for workers is always a net positive for the company. This almost always coincides with improving the original product or service itself, and only serves to improve the final delivery through the hands of well supported and confident workers.
Employment Situation:
Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 253,000 in April, and the unemployment rate changed little at 3.4%, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported recently. Employment continued to trend up in professional and business services, health care, leisure and hospitality, and social assistance.
Both the unemployment rate, at 3.4%, and the number of employed persons, at 5.7 million, changed little in April. The unemployment rate has ranged from 3.4% to 3.7% since March 2022. Employment was little changed over the month in construction, manufacturing, trade, transportation and warehousing, and information.

Top companies recognize the challenge of finding top talent as noted by Jacobs own Steve Cherry, Construction Division Manager.
"With Jacobs being a leader in the energy utilities/CCR industries, locating and retaining top quartile employees is the hardest task to complete for a client. The most important thing when trying to locate a new person to your team is being partnered with Stu Keeter of MRI. Stu is one of the leading experts in the field of CCR; people from senior level managers to field engineers. He always has a knack for finding and locating the top talent in the U.S."
