The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) is seeking applications for Director of Student Affairs.?This position oversees operational and academic advising activities of the Department of Student Affairs in the College of Medicine in Peoria. The Director serves as the primary advisor to the Assistant Dean. Provides academic support and guidance to medical students in compliance with degree program requirements.?Counsels students on study plans, learning strategies, and academic planning. Develops and implements programming for learning, Serves as liaison onfaculty committees. Works with College of Medicine ADA committee, title IX, and student mistreatment.
Position Summary
Develop and implement professional development seminars for students around study strategies, time management, test anxiety, test taking skills, and learning theory.
Duties & Responsibilities
Advise and support the development of Student Interest Groups regarding operations, budget, leadership, activities, policies, and compliance.
Provide training for Student Interest Group advisors.
Develop and execute a leadership development program for students.
Advise current students on academic planning and improvement goals.
Track referrals to learning specialist and PEP utilization on those referrals.
Provide referrals and screen students for learning disabilities or mental health issues.
Provide individual academic counseling to students; evaluate student skills and qualifications.
Develop and implement professional development seminars for students around study strategies, time management, test anxiety, test taking skills, and learning theory.
Develop and present Step 1 Coaching Series.

Direct day-to-day administrative operations.
Serve as primary advisor to Assistant Dean regarding overall department objectives and long-range planning by providing reports and outcome evaluations and suggesting and implementing new initiatives and processes.
Provide strategic management which includes determining and setting unit goals and priorities, budget development, and identifying areas of improvement and developing new routines or systems.
Serve as liaison to medical school committees/ departments such as UHP, Medical Education and Evaluation, ADA, and Promotion s committee.
Tracks out-of-phase students.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
