A key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the primary purpose of the role is to provide strategic and operational business and financial leadership for the effective administration and day-to-day management of St Hilda’s School. Reporting to the Principal and School Council, the Director of Business and Operations will exemplify astute financial, business and commercial acumen and is responsible for the management of all business operations, including the Carey Lane Early Learning Centre and the St Hilda’s Foundation. This position plays an active role in strategy development and implementation of strategic objectives and requires an executive leader who has knowledge and understanding of school education and the business acumen required to successfully run a multifaceted organisation. The role also acts as Company Secretary to the School Council. Possessing a high degree of trustworthiness, loyalty, integrity and confidentiality, the successful candidate will have outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, with a passion for education and a dedication to positive outcomes for young women. You will have a clear understanding of how a Director of Business and Operations can make a real difference to the student learning journey.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • A commitment to the Anglican ethos and support of the St Hilda’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Business management experience, ideally in a school environment, including an in-depth understanding of strategic financial management and budget formation
  • Ability to collaborate at an executive level with experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary team to deliver strategic initiatives using contemporary business practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels of the organisation and externally, including an ability to effectively negotiate, resolve conflict, motivate and engage stakeholders
  • Experience in governance reporting to a Board or Council, and ability to manage projects, facilities, resources and contracts
  • Experience in leading, implementing and reviewing quality processes and strategies that are embedded throughout an organisation
  • Sound judgment and demonstrated initiative and innovative thinking in dealing with issues in a decisive and consistent manner
