Direct Impact for Veterans
I typically reserve my updates from Cryoeeze22 Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, for the weekends. However, this weekend was marred by a profound personal loss, as a very dear friend of mine succumbed to suicide.
This individual was a beacon of light and warmth, effortlessly brightening any space he entered. His roles in life were many and varied: a devoted father, an unparalleled friend, a former Combat Army Ranger, and a dedicated Narcotics Officer for the Sheriff’s Department. Despite sustaining severe injuries in his line of duty that left him with both cognitive and physical challenges, he never allowed these obstacles to confine his spirit or ambitions.
His resilience led him to pursue and complete a Doctorate in Criminal Studies with honors, a testament to his unwavering determination and intelligence.
Shockingly, many of us had interacted with him just last week, with no indication of the turmoil he faced. This serves as a poignant reminder that we can never fully comprehend the external pressures that may resurrect a veteran's inner demons to overwhelming proportions.
I urge everyone, especially if you know a veteran, to make an effort to reach out today. Sometimes, even a simple conversation can make a significant difference. Let's ensure they know they're not alone and that support is always available.
In light of this tragedy, I've included some statistics below regarding suicide rates in the United States, with a particular focus on the impact on our veterans. It's a sobering reflection of the challenges faced and a call to action for all of us to be more vigilant and caring towards those who have served our country.
Our commitment extends beyond mere awareness to providing support services equipped with cutting-edge technology, aimed at assisting our heroes in managing their physical pains and psychological stress, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTS).
Recent statistics have shed light on a deeply concerning issue:
Suicide Rates Per Year:
2021: 48,183
2022: 49,449
2023: 51,874
Demographics for 2023:
Men: 40,980 (79%)

Women: 10,893 (21%)
Veterans:
Estimated suicides among veterans in 2023: 14,965
This accounts for approximately 29-30% of the total suicides.
With 18 million veterans in America today, representing 6% of the population, and 2,079,142 military members in 2023, it's starkly evident that veterans, who constitute only 0.04% of the U.S. population, represent 30% of the suicide rate. This discrepancy is not just alarming; it's a call to action for anyone who values the sacrifices made by our military personnel.
Military service, a voluntary commitment, demands immense sacrifices from those who choose to serve.
It's crucial to reflect on the significance of this service:
Veteran: The term describes someone who has, at some point in their life, offered themselves, up to the cost of their life, as a guarantee for the safety and freedom of the citizens of the United States of America.
Service before Self: This principle underscores the selflessness with which our military personnel serve, often putting the needs of the country and fellow citizens above their own.
Oath of Allegiance: This solemn vow is a profound declaration of dedication to the United States, its Constitution, and its laws, against all adversaries, signifying a complete commitment to the nation.
As Judd Gregg poignantly stated, "The veterans of our military services have put their lives on the line to protect the freedoms that we enjoy. They have dedicated their lives to their country and deserve to be recognized for their commitment."
It is abundantly clear that we owe a profound debt of gratitude and support to our veterans. The stark realities they face call for a concerted effort from all of us to ensure they receive the care, recognition, and assistance they rightfully deserve. Let us all be part of the solution.

5 个月Ryder, thanks for sharing!
Ryder, from one mental health advocate to another, thank you so much for the work you're doing, especially in this space. It's a conversation that needs to be had loudly and continuously. Unsure if this would benefit anyone in your network, but a fellow nonprofit (veteran-owned) is hosting a free virtual event next week on managing stress and anger. If you think anyone would find it helpful, please feel free to pass it along: https://thelongwalkhome.networkforgood.com/events/68647-manage-stress-and-anger
Heading up NEMO Defense Division at NEMO Arms Inc.
