In direct from China – Yunnan Province – Xishuangbanna Prefecture – Mengla County - Yiwu town, one of the birthplaces of pu er tea business !

I was very honored to participate, as member of the jury, to the tea competition held in Yiwu last may for the spring plucking of sheng pu er mao cha : the 2019 Mengla Tribute Tea Festival.

The teas tasted come from Mengla County, located in Xishuangbanna, in the Yunnan province, one of the famous cradles of the pu er tea. This competition is an institution for more than 10 years, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and organized by the HJC Global Tea Fair. As soon as elected, the tea that won the prize was auctioned off on the same day, in a 10kg lot.

This tea fair with such a rich exhibit and tea competitition category is not already available in Europe.

As one the cradles of tea and the first tea producing country in the world, China offers a multiple varieties and qualities of teas. But as a huge and varied tea territory, it’s difficult for having direct access to producers and suppliers.

This exhibition was a good opportunity for being in direct contact with them.

Through face-to-face communication, I directly told to them and shared about the demand, and I learned a lot of Chinese tea knowledge and marketing, which helps to improve my business and my sourcing datas.

In this spirit of being a direct link from the tea producers to your tea cups, it was a great experience !
