Direct or Detour: Which is Right for You?

Direct or Detour: Which is Right for You?

Is your current method of earning a livelihood the result of consistently pursuing a lifelong dream from when you were a teenager?

Or like me, did you get to where you now are as a result of an eclectic mix of life decisions and career choices?

If your career path was more zig zag than focused, the new "Direct or Detour” podcast will probably resonate with you.

In the words of its founder and host:

Life rarely follows a straight line. In "Direct or Detour," we uncover the fascinating journeys behind successful people's careers and lives.

Did they follow a carefully planned path, or did life's unexpected turns lead them to something even better?

Each episode features candid conversations with accomplished guests who share their authentic stories - the victories, the setbacks, and the surprising twists that shaped their success.

From career pivots to serendipitous opportunities, we explore whether their achievements came from unwavering focus or embracing life's detours.

Join us as we discover that sometimes the most rewarding destinations aren't the ones we initially planned.

Whether you're questioning your own path or curious about others' journeys, "Direct or Detour" reveals that success has many routes - and they're not always straight.

Having had the honor of being the first podcast guest, I was--and remain--intrigued by the concept.

In my case, I have always felt an internal disconnect between my passion for planning, organization and order and my seeming random career path.

During the podcast, Brian asked me if I had any regrets over past decisions that didn’t turn out as well as expected.? Good question and very challenging to answer.

Reflecting back on my response, not only was I correct in answering “no”, those seemingly wrong decisions turned out to be invaluable learning experiences. ?As painful as some of the experiences may have been at the time, the lessons learned played an important role in helping me get to where I currently am in my life’s journey.

In other words, I had to be where I was in order to be where I now am.

What about you: Do you have any regrets over past decisions that didn’t turn out as well as expected?? Why or why not?

Thanks for joining me Larry. I really enjoyed our chat.
