Dior's 'Designer of Dreams' in Tokyo, Naomi Ackie as Whitney Houston, the Future of Palm Angels and More

On Wednesday, the Japanese capital will become the seventh city worldwide to host the “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” exhibit when it opens at the Museum of Contemporary Art?Tokyo?(MOT). While the exhibit has made its way from Paris to cities such as London, Dallas and New York, roughly half of what is exhibited in the Tokyo iteration will be shown for the first time.
“For this exhibition, we discovered a lot of stories,” said the curator of the exhibition, Florence Muller. “We knew that Christian?Dior?was the first couturier to come to?Japan, but we have discovered amazing documents telling the story in a very detailed way, with Japanese ladies that were very instrumental to this relationship.”

British actress Naomi Acie is making her big debut as the legendary Whitney Houston in "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."
Ackie, at 30 years old, was too young to remember the tabloid craze around Houston’s life and instead only knew of her music. After landing the role, she dove into researching the singer’s life and came away from the experience feeling a deep connection to Houston and what she went through at the center of so much attention.
“It made me feel so much closer to her and so much more empathetic of people who have that much connection with everyone. And I think it’s a beautiful thing, but it’s also a lot for one person to bear,” she says.
