Dina’s Live Here Story

Dina Haveric, a recent graduate with a background in environmental science and engineering, found an unexpected opportunity to make a difference in Cedar Rapids after a destructive storm. While contemplating where to begin her career, she considered both Cedar Rapids and Denver.

However, witnessing the devastation caused by the Derecho storm in Cedar Rapids motivated her to choose this city. She joined Trees Forever, a nonprofit organization, as a part of the Green Iowa AmeriCorps program, focusing on communications and marketing. Later, she took on a full-time role as the ReLeaf outreach and communications manager, contributing to the ReLeaf Cedar Rapids plan, aimed at replanting the urban canopy after the Derecho. Dina was drawn not only by the chance to make an impact but also by Cedar Rapids' community spirit, manageable size, and welcoming atmosphere. She appreciates the outdoor recreation opportunities and the city's proximity to other major cities.
