As the admission season has just started in July 2019, the authorities of most private academic institutes in India are keeping their fingers crossed. How to promote their college and universities to the parents and the guardians? Would the old story "all our passing out students get campus placement" sell well? Would the old story "Our college ranks number one in engineering" be able to attract more new admissions? Although most parents and guardians understand these advertisement gimmicks, but that doesn't help to get rid of their dilemmas. They have one burning question: "Which college and / or university is a good choice to admit our ward?"
"All our passing out students get campus placement" - not true!
The number of jobs available in India is very less compared to the volume of passing out students every year. This is a hard fact which is admitted in several reports by the government and other private bodies. A recent report says that 80 percent of the passing out engineering students in India are not employable. Does that mean all students would be employed if they had employable skills? The truth is that the available job vacancies in India can employ less than 20 percent of the annual passing outs.
"Our institute ranked number one in engineering" - can't be true for all!
How come a plenty of engineering colleges claim that their college ranked number one? That can happen if the ranking agencies are different. The news media use to organize ranking awards programs on local TV channels and deliver sponsored awards to some select group of college and university authorities. That is a very poor technique of self promotion. Everybody understands that these are false propaganda. What should the guardians do to counter the fake claims? Would they admit their wards to these colleges and universities?
Some universities can be a prospective "Institute of Eminence" even before its creation! - Jio!
The Jio University was in the limelight of adulthood even before it was born! By the grace of the Indian government, the planned Jio University was placed among the "Institute of Eminence" before it was created! With the campus of the Jio University yet to be built, should the parents be interested to admit their wards there? There comes a dilemma of virtual existence!
The dilemmas are: "which college / university" and "which subject?"
Do you have a ward to be admitted in this season to a college / university in India? If your ward is a bright student and cracked the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) advanced, and he/she scored a good JEE rank, then he/she gets admission to one of the top Indian Institute(s) of Technology or other government institutes. Otherwise it is a dilemma which private college / university to choose? The final question remains "which subject?"
