?? AHOI there, game studies operators!
It's foggy out there!
And ... you know what that means! thegamingmuse is inviting us to join her in her latest video Welcome Home, James | Silent Hill 2 Remake Analysis.
I think, the field of digital game studies should pay close attention to the topic of remakes in general, as they offer a unique lens through which to explore the evolving relationship between technology, culture, and nostalgia in gaming.
Remakes not only update graphics and mechanics to meet contemporary standards but also reinterpret narratives and design choices, reflecting current social, economic, and technological contexts.
By examining remakes, researchers can investigate how player expectations, historical preservation, and the gaming industry’s commercial strategies intersect. Studying remakes can reveal shifts in cultural memory, showing how both developers and players reframe past gaming experiences in light of modern sensibilities, which deepens our understanding of the role digital games play in both personal and collective identity.

I would be very, very happy if you would listen to the episodes, give them plenty of good ratings and then share them to increase their visibility.
