Dignity For Durban Girls - Womandla Foundation Initiative

As women achieve power, the barriers will fall. As society sees what women can do, as women see what women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and we’ll all be better off for it.” - Sandra Day O’Connor

Ensuring that our future women were better off, as Womandla Foundation, we held the dignity drive initiative in disadvantaged and low socio-economic communities. This initiative was aimed at supporting and empowering young girls in high school. The Womandla Foundation supported young high schoolers by providing them with sanitary and hygiene products that had been collected and donated to our foundation’s team. In supporting our adopted school, high schoolers, we sought to empower and educate them through interactive, impactful, and fun-filled activities that opened their eyes to a world full of possibilities.

Last week, on the 20th April 2024 at 08:00-10:30, we hosted our second dignity drive initiative at Greenbury Secondary School in Phoenix, Durban at their Math's Centre. The day was filled with lots of learning and fun activities centered on supporting and empowering the youth.

To contribute to the work we did as the Womandla Foundation, we were open to receiving donations such as sanitary pads, toothpaste, roll-on, soap, and body lotions that we used to put together our dignity hampers for all the girls and/or boys that attended our sessions. We also accepted monetary donations via the back-a-buddy online platform.
