Digital University Rebrand & Redesign Frequently Asked Questions

Since the rebranding and redesign of the overall Digital University learning experience, we thought it might be a good time to address a few of the most asked questions we have been getting since the changes have been implemented. Helping us answer those questions is our Lead Designer Ron Stevens who was able to break down each of the five key questions so learners and stakeholders have an understanding of how they will be affected by the changes.

Who does this directly affect?

This branding rollout affects the individual learner more than anyone. It is our goal that we provide the best user experience possible to our users so we wanted to make sure that as we approached the new branding, we found opportunities to polish our site to make it easier and more delightful to use.

Why did these changes need to happen?

The updated brand is all about making sure our learners know that DU is for them. From the nod to this being a DoD wide offering, to the changes to make sure it’s easier to find training, we want this platform to support the needs of the people who use it.

What are the most drastic changes from a user and admin perspective?

The most drastic changes came in how we present learners with their training activity. We wanted to make it easier for them to keep track of the courses they are taking across various DU vendors and we wanted to make sure that they could easily find courses they completed in the past through DU. Additionally, functionally everything else works pretty similarly to the old design, but we spent a lot of time figuring out how to make the experience feel more cohesive and easier on the eye.

When will these changes to the platform go into effect?

These changes are going into effect immediately. If you visit DU today, you’ll see all of the new branding on the site. We will continue to refine the site experience as we hear more feedback from learners too.

Where can interested individuals find these changes?

Wherever you see DU, we want to make sure you see our brand. We wanted to ensure that DU was identifiable for our users, whether on the student portal website, on a flyer at a base, or when seeing a post on social media. No matter where you find us, we have one clear message, style, and feel.
