Digital Twin
A network digital twin is a virtual model of a physical network. It acts as a staging environment, allowing network teams to evaluate changes to the configuration state under controlled conditions.
Proprietary digital twin solutions offer complex models of network configurations and traffic, but are typically expensive. Some vendors offer built-in simulators for modeling configurations but not real traffic (to be effective, a digital twin solution needs to set up protocols and actually pass traffic).?
Many network teams struggle to maintain permanent lab environments, which help them test new network configurations and recreate production challenges. Using open source alternatives, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform can spin up lab environments as digital twins, which mimic network infrastructure as code, lowering cost and complexity in the process.?
In this session, which will include a demo, you will learn how to use the open source tool Containerlab with Ansible Automation Platform, Netbox, and Event Driven Ansible to enforce a single source of truth with a closed feedback loop.
