Digital Transformation - what is that all about then!?

Digital Transformation had me scratching my head for a long-time!

Like many organisations, n-compass has been grappling with what digital transformation means to us, and how we can adapt and embrace it, to enhance our services and the experience our services users have whilst engaging with us.

We strive to be an innovative leader within our sector and since last year, we have introduced a staff led Innovation Hub. The hub is a group of creative and forward-thinking staff members who think of new and innovative ways to improve our services. The group allows our colleagues space and time to share ideas with one another, find and develop unique ways of working. They have had many great outcomes so far, such as our developing digital ambassadors programme and our on-line Carers Community Network, which already has over 1000 active members!

We are starting to get some external recognition for these developments which is encouraging and helps us benchmark. Last week n-compass was announced as the winners in the national AbilityNet Tech4Good Awards, under the ‘Community Impact’ category, for our Digital Carers Support project.?The submission included our Carers Community Network, Care for Carers Counselling and Volunteer Chat Line services all supported by various technology.

So, for us we have concluded that digital transformation is about ironing out any ‘friction in our internal processes’ and enabling the people we support to access our services in the way they want to. This makes sense to us and has now become our digital purpose.
