We experience headlines now talking about a possible recession or a big reset as some have described what the outcome of the current uncertainty will lead to. ?
Uncertainty has always been there as part of human nature. What we all are facing is the fear of uncertainty and our perceptions of uncertainty.
Hotels must pay attention to how the markets react to any type of uncertainty.
Either we will face a recession or a big reset, hotels need to look at new alternative ways to harness the opportunities within uncertainty.
During times of uncertainty, hotels are among one the pillars and institutions that will help the United States as a nation to recover.
As a result of this hotels plays an unprecedented role in creating new opportunities and assuring that people have job alternatives if they get laid off.

Digital transformation represents a process where people and technology work in harmony to transform existing traditional and non-digital processes and services or create new ones. Today this is a process that completely alters the way hotels are managed and operated, and how value is delivered.
Digital disruptions are an outside-in process while digital transformation is an inside-out process.
COVID-19 accelerated digital operations among consumers and brands which highlighted the need for digital transformation.
Several technological advancements have made it easier and more cost-effective for hotels to initiate a digital transformation process.
In uncertain times, it's imperative that hotels focus their digital investments on impactful, and measurable, value-creation opportunities most able to support their digital transformation systems and strategic goals.

Red oceans represent the hotel industry as a whole – the know market space where boundaries are defined, and hotels try to outperform competitors to grab a greater share of the existing market through commodity offerings.
Blue oceans look at the hotel industry that not yet exists – the unknown market space, unexplored and untainted by competition. It is a deep and powerful approach when it comes to new opportunities and profitable growth.
Agility in hotels
In times of uncertainty, hotels need to be able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances to survive and thrive. Focusing on agility allows companies to be more responsive to market changes and customer needs, which can be especially important during times of economic volatility or rapid technological advancement.
Blue ocean strategy is another important consideration during times of uncertainty. Blue ocean strategy is a framework for creating new market space and making the competition irrelevant by focusing on creating and capturing untapped market demand. By identifying new opportunities and creating new value for customers, hotels can differentiate themselves from their competitors and find new sources of growth.

Implementing digital transformation processes in a time of uncertainty doesn’t have an intimidating process. It is all about a new way of thinking.
Here are a few steps you can take to begin to implement a new mindset for yourself and your hotel team members.
