Digital transformation is the solution to the chaos related to a pandemic

We have spent ample time discussing SensFloor? Care; I am incredibly passionate about the product and find it a breeze to discuss. While we have spoken about the daily benefits and touched on the tech aspects we are yet to discuss the possibilities of SensFloor? Care during times of pandemic.

SensFloor? Care detects falls, it monitors patient activity allowing nurses to have an entire overview of the ward at a single glance towards the monitor. Using the patient activity-tracking feature, SensFloor? Care notifies nurses of any potentially dangerous scenarios thus minimizing the chances of a fall as the nurse can rush to the patient's side if necessary.

However, how do fall detection and activity tracking aid you during times of COVID?

Social Distancing During times of COVID-19

Before the coronavirus was officially declared a pandemic and named COVID-19 we all saw the chaos that erupted in China, it was heartbreaking for us all to witness people being forced into lockdown and the panic it instilled in people in the very beginning.

Crowd control is essential during times of a pandemic, countless videos emerged showing hundreds of people in the midst of a panic not knowing where to go, where to get tested or what to do.

People were crowded outside of hospitals all over the world, putting themselves, their loved ones and the hospital staff at risk.

SensFloor? being installed in receptions or emergency units can automatically use multiple measures to ensure the public are adhering to social distancing rules and regulations. This includes automatically informing staff or security personnel if a person is putting themselves and others at risk.

If a hospital was fully equipped with SensFloor? Care, all it would take is a quick glance at the monitor and your staff, you or security would be fully aware of the situation within the building. They would be able to have a detailed view of where people are and if there are any areas within the hospital that are drawing a crowd. Then they would know which areas they need to tend to in order to disperse the crowd and minimise the infection risk.

SensFloor? could automatically trigger alerts or displays when it registers people who are too close to one another.

SensFloor? Care would allow for complete control of patients while they are queuing up to get tested.

Entry & Exit alerts during times of COVID-19

Once a patient expresses concerns that they may have COVID-19, one of the first steps is to find out whether they are experiencing any symptoms, whether they have travelled to any of the high-risk countries or whether they had been in close proximity with a confirmed patient.

It is essential to keep patients that may be infected with COVID-19 isolated while running tests. This is another area where SensFloor? could have aided healthcare workers and security in ensuring patient and staff safety during a pandemic.

SensFloor? has an entry/exit feature that automatically notifies staff if someone tries to exit or enter an area. This could be used to ensure the infected stay within a designated zone and the healthy do not come to close to a high-risk zone.

Protecting our front liners during times of COVID-19

SensFloor? Care allows for staff to have a complete overview of what is going on within the ward without having to physically be inside the ward.

This feature allows for the nurses and physicians to be less exposed to infected patients during the quarantine stage. It would aid the staff in reducing the team sizes per shift in order to maintain overall infection risk among staff.

By reducing the stress for the clinical staff you also ease the level of burnout they could be suffering due to the extent of stress your staff are faced within the midst of a pandemic. Reduced burnout reduces the likelihood of any fatigue-related accidents which could have dire consequences for both the staff and patients.

According to CNN on April 12, 2020, over 9,200 health care workers had been infected with COVID-19, though the CDC assume this is an underestimate as more than 80% of the overall confirmed cases do not mention whether the infected person is a health care worker or not.

Have a look at the CDC's video below discussing the spread of C-19.

Digital transformation is the solution to the chaos related to a pandemic

The spread of COVID-19 has sent the people, the economy and health care systems around the world into a completely chaotic zone.

Between companies having zero income for months, people panic buying toilet paper, medical staff not having enough masks and other protective gear for themselves and our hospitals not having enough beds for the number of patients being rushed in, it has become clear that we are not at all equipped to deal with a pandemic of this scale.

Our economy and health care systems are geared to handle linear, incremental demand, while the virus grows at an exponential rate. Our health systems cannot keep up with this kind of explosive demand without the rapid and large-scale adoption of digital operating models.

Though intelligent devices and AI have been accepted in most industries our health care industry has been lagging behind. With systems such as SensFloor? in place in Hospitals, Retail and Public spaces. We would have a much more efficient response to pandemics such as COVID-19

Let's hope that once the dust settles, we will have transformed the way we deliver healthcare in the future.
