To me hospitality is art. It is like the painter that uses a combination of colors to create a picture. And we all will have a different perspective on how we view the finished product. The key is to bring out the commonalities that tell us that this is an experience we want to share with others.
Today we find ourselves bombarded by disruptions and challenges from everywhere. The saying “No News Is Good News” has finally become true.
Anxiety and tension are at an all-time high. Stress, fatigue, and burnout appear to be the common dominator today.
And more hospitality employees today are suffering more chronic diseases, and are increasingly unwell, stressed, and generally unhappy.?
The hospitality industry has a responsibility to lead and embrace mindfulness as part of the new work environment employees face today.
Hotels encounter intense competition, market turbulence, and ever-changing technological innovation in a dynamic environment. Overcoming this challenge requires hotels to transform themselves to be agile in the market by integrating and exploiting digital transformation.

Transformational agility is the hotel’s ability to stay alert to the transformation that occurs in a dynamic environment and quickly deploy resources to respond creatively.
Transformational agility focuses on the reaction to market transformations at the strategic level to ensure the development of the hotel organization, such as strategic direction and decision-making in turbulent conditions. This transformational agility is comprised of three parts: awareness, response, and impact.
Awareness represents the hotels’ ability to detect environmental transformation and underlying opportunities.
This environmental transformation can represent changes in technology, economics, regulations, politics, international situations, suppliers, vendors, customer preference, labor market, health and wellness, and competition. Essentially anything that has the potential to disrupt the hotel industry.
The response represents the hotels’ abilities to perform proper actions after receiving signals related to environmental transformations.
Decisions must be made based on the information that is collected and analyzed.
Impact represents the effect, positive or negative, of the action you have taken to transform the physical and mental state of people that engage with your hotel.
Through dedicated systems and managing technology, hospitality mindfulness towards digital transformation influences the relationships between those responsible for digital technology and every department of the hotel.
Digital transformation is the process of making people and technology work in harmony toward the common good of creating an exhilarating impact for everyone involved.
Hospitality mindfulness towards digital transformation also includes the restructuring of the hotels' digital technology work processes to accommodate and allow for needed changes or to take advantage of strategic opportunities.
Hotels that embrace hospitality mindfulness towards digital transformation are more likely to seek new digital technologies or exploit current ones constantly to optimize the utilization of digital technology.
Through hospitality mindfulness, hotels will experience voluntary cooperation within the digital transformation process.
