Digital transformation, the future of learning and development.
SEP 24th, 2022, 7:30 PM, I am writing a newsletter article via LinkedIn, a digital platform that connects professionals around the world, to be published at 8:30 PM same day.
SEP 24th, 1922, 7:30 PM, My grandfather was writing a newsletter article on his papers to be sent through the postal office to the newspaper premises tomorrow and to be delivered on SEP 29th. Readers will be able to read the article once they pay for the newspaper on October 1st, 7 AM.
Same stories but different generations. What worked perfectly for the greatest Generation (GI Generation), born 1901–1924, will not be effective to generation Z or iGen, born 1997–2010. And hence we need to highlight the importance of digital transformation. Today, I enumerate 5 reasons why digital transformation is the future of training and development industry.
1- E-learning and Generation Z user experience:
Gen Z is?the first generation to have 24/7 access to the internet. That is why digital communication is a seamless experience for GEN.Z However, studies proved that GEN.Z likes also face to face interactions. That is why GEN.Z is the first generation to blend both human to human connection with digital communication gaining the best out of both experiences. so, approaching GEN.Z with the offline classes disregarding the digital solutions might not support a great learning experience. that is why mixing E-learning with offline classes is the best product market fit especially with the evolution of COVID-19.
2- Sustainable information resources and profitable business models:
The best way that Millennial Generation or Generation Y, Born 1981–1996, can approach GEN.Z for learning and development purposes is to develop business models that can cover the needs of GEN.Z to digitally exist. that is why E-learning platforms are the best starter for documenting and sharing knowledge and experience with GEN.Z. Making money out of an E-learning platform is proved to be a successful business model as well.

3- Time saving and direct to the point:
Digital transformation solves he problem of the stuffing of the knowledge resources by summarizing contents and providing bullet points that help E-learners to add a function to each and every single piece of information. E-learning was one of the solution heroes during the COVID pandemic and still. An applicable piece of info as a starter is more important than a whole text book that confuses a 19 years old young man who might not be interested to handle big bulk of info.
4- Visual effects and the new job titles:
GEN.Z is in love with info graphics. That is why digital transformation directly creates new job titles serving the visual demand of GEN.Z. for an online course, A team may consist of content creators, instructional designers, graphic designers, trainers, editors, auditors, project mangers and maybe a technology team of developers and testers with project mangers and team leaders. E-learning is a solution by millennials and maybe GEN.Z providing a training and development solutions millennials and for sure GEN.Z
5- Artificial intelligence and metaverse:
If COVID flipped the table to expose digital transformation, I am afraid digital transformation is a game changer table flipper exposing artificial intelligence and the digital spaces as well.
GEN.Z deserves the best. They are more intelligent as we think. Let's pay attention to their wants, uncover their needs and make sure they are satisfied with the solutions we provide to their issues. GEN.Z deserves the best.
