It's interesting to think about how the last decade has shaped the way for the future with technology advances across all industries. From a consumer perspective the release of the iPhone not only gave us the world at our finger tips, but changed the way the world conducted business. If the introduction of credit cards was to be the transition away from cash payments then the likes of Apple-pay would surely be the death of it. This has also meant that business have to move with the times in order to survive, as we live in a fast pace world where everything needs to be instant and ideally on your mobile in order to retain and attract business.
I see this in aspects of life, from using my bank apps, shopping, social media and even playing golf with the ability to now have ball tracking software, so I can analysis my shot shape out on the course.
The hot topic within my industry of Financials within the Health and Social Care is of course digital transformation. As we look to streamline and remove paper based processes onto mobile applications, as well as having the technology for Finance to fully analyse the business. As mentioned in a previous post the modern FD is no longer just looking at finance and being reactive, they are making business decisions to drive them forward and this can only be achieved by having the insight to make these decisions.
Whilst we continually develop new ways for technology to pave the way and make our lives easier, I am certainly intrigued to see where the next decade takes us.
