Digital Transformation is all around us, it's the current buzz in every market.

In my view, Digital Transformation actually started 35 years ago, in the audio sector.
Audio-recording, -storage and -playback were only possible by using vinyl media and analogue tape, in various forms.
New developments in electronics allowed the replacement of large circuit boards by microchips, and the development of ADC chips (Analogue to Digital Converters).
This stimulated the various audio devices to be replaced by a digital version.
As chip technology advanced, larger capacity memory chips and more performant microprocessors allowed higher quality recording and playback, new sound effects devices, audio samplers and digital synthesizers. And Digital Audio Recording made its way into the professional audio mixers of music studio's as well.
Further improvements in microchip design and compressor techniques pushed the video industry to follow the same changes.
As Compact Disc replaced the Audio Cassettes, so were VCR's replaced by large capacity Hard Disk Drives and Memory Cards, and Video Cameras took over the market from VCR's.
Throughout the following decades, we have seen one Digital Transformation after another creating a revolution in various sectors, often driven by increased internet availability and speed.
There are plenty of examples around us. Banks turned digital with internet banking, YouTube and SoundCloud replaced a big deal of the audio/video devices. And now Connected Vehicles and Digital Insurance are at the verge of a breakthrough in the near future, disrupting the automotive sector as we know it.
Powerful smartphones and apps made the consumer forget about his desktop computer and let him be constantly available online and connected to social media with high quality digital photos and video, e-books and online newspapers.
Besides the digitization in the consumer markets, the employee sector finds itself in a transformation towards a digital, paperless world.
With the emphasis on higher efficiency, lower cost, less time consuming, less prone to human error, with higher availability and more user-friendly requirements, we have seen more and more online software tools emerge that target the workforce.
Looking back at my past career, I was always involved in some kind of digital transformation, driven by a technical advancement in a certain niche.
My new job in the Travel and Expense Management sector is no different to that.
No more hassle with travel request documents that need to be signed by hand, filling in expense reports in excel, making sure all receipts are stapled to the printout, verifying the quarterly updated allowance amounts, reporting travel days at the end of every month, and so on. No more time consuming tasks that allow for errors and incomplete reports for travelers that should be focusing on the real reason for the trip.
And let's not forget the accounting people, trying to find their way through the various local regulations and manually verifying the expense claims. Fully automated compliance with corporate policies and local regulations is getting more and more attention and interest.
All these time consuming tasks, prone to human errors and delays, can now accurately and safely be handled in a single online tool with features that allow input from various sources and persona's, and data exchange with ERP systems and government databases.

Businesses are into two things: making money and saving cost. In order to generate revenue in their core activity, they need investment in workforce and tools. The more the latter are optimised and efficient, the better ROI and profitability.
Digital Transformation is a game changer in every sector and market as it brings the necessary transitions that businesses need in order to survive, stay healthy and grow.
In that respect, I am thrilled and looking forward to helping enterprises in the Digital Transformation of their Travel and Expense Management.
