Just to add to my thesis from CFO Forum last Thursday. I think that the main ideas behind term "Digital Transformation" are:
- IT is not a service function known as "Information Technology" any more, it should be the Center of Excellence and "Innovation and Transformation" at the first place.
- Digital transformation is not only about making human related transactional work in digital way via automation, it is also about adding value for the business. I am talking about new digital processes based on Internet of Behaviors, Total Experience and other modern technologies.
- The biggest question is on possibility to replace employees with robots or automated processes: from what I see in short term the headcount will grow and due to high demand for IT specialists (AI, ML, Automation...) expenses can hit the roof. In a middle term and depending on industry we will see the profit in the most companies which are able to successfully adopt Digital Transformation on the enterprise level for all the core processes.
