Digital Things: What's the deal with SaaS? And no, we don't mean the cheekiness sass.

Welcome to the third episode of Digital Things with Trinnex! In this episode, Steven Drangsholt speaks about Software as a Service, also known as SaaS, and the many benefits of it.

You may remember the era when Netflix was a DVD-by-mail service. Netflix let people lease DVDs by placing an online order and then delivered those DVDs to their homes. While the formula was a hit at the time, Netflix changed its business model and allowed people to lease DVDs for a fixed subscription fee per month. This model was again revamped, and it became what we see today — an internet-based subscription service that allows you to watch all licensed video content it owns. This is exactly what SaaS is.

SaaS is a way of delivering applications over the Internet—as a service. Instead of installing and maintaining software, you simply access it via the Internet, freeing yourself from complex software and hardware management. The provider manages access to the application, including security, availability, and performance.

Some organizations leverage internal software advocates to help push SaaS initiatives or they might hire someone to help drive digital transformation.

Watch the video to understand the basics of SaaS. Also watch more episodes of our Digital Things series to explore more things digital. See you soon!
