Digital Things: Highlighting Young Professionals (YP) Summit 2024
In this week’s Digital Things, Steve, Carolyn, Alfredo, and Ji lm chat about the upcoming annual Young Professionals Summit, or YP summit — a must-attend event for every professional with a zest for innovation and ingenuity.
Hosted by the young professional group of both WEF and AWWA, this YP summit brings together the brilliant minds shaping the next generation of the water workforce, trains them in the ins and outs of the water industry, and discusses challenges and ideas that will help build water leaders of tomorrow.
Ji lm mentions that the 2024 YP Summit will be held on Feb 12 and 13 in Portland, Oregon, at the Oregon Conventional Center, and this year's theme will be taking care of business and getting down to nitty gritty of the important missions of our industry. The summit will involve interactive and engaging workshops that will focus on workforce development and management.
Led by an impressive panel of utility leaders, one of the workshops will guide attendees around utility management, with special focus on our infrastructure needs and capital planning through the lens of affordability and equity. The attendees will also hear insights from various water and wastewater sector leaders, including the leadership from AWWA, WEF, and Water Research Foundation.
Carolyn informs that while the Summit begins on February 13, the AWWA and WEF will also conduct a leadership and soft skills training activity on February 12 — an opportunity for further improvement for young professionals.
Ji lm emphasis what a great networking opportunity this is to liaise with like-minded individuals and encourages everyone to attend the event.
