Digital Things: Exploring Predictive Modeling and PaaS for Water Utilities

Welcome to another episode of Digital Things! We at Trinnex are back from a short break and excited to dive into fresh topics about digital water and how technology tackles challenges for water and wastewater utilities. Today we are joined by Katie Deheer, our Data Science Lead at Trinnex, who speaks about the value of predictive modeling in 2025 and “platform as a service” or “prediction as a service”, also known as PaaS.

Katie mentions that in 2025, predictive modeling will be about helping utilities cost-effectively reduce unknowns in their Lead and Copper Rule Service Line inventories.

“Platform as a service” and “predictions as a service” (PaaS) are key here. Trinnex has built tools that offer everything—from all-in-one data management, inventory management, sampling, and replacements planning to field inspections and predictive modeling. But we also know many customers may already have certain tools that are important to their existing operations. That’s where PaaS shines—we can offer just the predictive modeling piece to fit seamlessly into utility operations and help with this specific challenge.

This flexibility means utilities can tackle specific challenges without reinventing the wheel—win-win for efficiency and budgets!
