Musk plans to solicit $6 billion for xAI

If all goes according to plan, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI will close in the coming weeks after raising $6 billion (at a valuation of $18 billion), giving investors a 25% ownership stake in the company. This deal has already happened once.

• The terms changed when interest in fundraising increased, but Jared Birchall, who heads Musk's family office, first informed potential investors that xAI was soliciting $3 billion at a valuation of $15 billion.
• There have been rumors that Musk's long-term associate Steve Jurvetson and Sequoia Capital, as well as Future Ventures, were major backers of the investment round.
• Some other possible backers of xAI include Gigafund and Valor Equity Partners, both of whose founders are close friends of Musk's.

Why important? xAI is expected to utilize the aforementioned funds to further its mission of "connecting the digital and physical worlds" by incorporating training data from all of Musk's enterprises, such as Neuralink, Tesla, SpaceX,... (Source)
