The world of business is not like what it used to be two years back that is the pre-pandemic era! Yes, the changes have been so monumental that we will not be going back to traditional ways of selling at least not in the near future. Massive digital sales transformation is happening and digital selling is the new buzzword of the town.

While digital marketing has been around for a long with proven strategies and providers, digital selling is a concept that many business owners are still trying to wrap their heads around. When I sat across Priya Sachdeva (of course, virtually!), Customer Success Officer at Vengreso, many insights surfaced which establish that digital selling is not something to be afraid of. On the contrary, it might have just made selling easier, your prospects more accessible and communication more meaningful.

Digital Sales Transformation for small business

Here are a few insights from the conversation:

Start with the mindset

Digital is just another tool for communication. Videos and being on camera are non-negotiable. So if you find yourself feeling uncomfortable with videos, then it is a mindset thing, not a business challenge.

Doing outreach is just about a message now

Your prospect or buyer is out there on Linkedin, Instagram, or some other digital platform. Unlike the previous days, you do not have to go through the security guard, the front desk then EA, and then get a time on the calendar. So reaching out to your prospect is way easier.

Articulate your value proposition

Your prospects may not be comfortable with the virtual space because you don't announce it to them in terms of how you're going to engage with them. Be very clear in how you are going to meet them virtually, what’s the agenda and WHY they should invest their time with you.

Old techniques die hard

We are always looking to work with people with some similarities. Rapport building as we know it is so much easier now because your prospect is sharing a lot about themselves, their life, and their business on social media.

Best time for women to get in sales

Women can be great at selling because they are naturally empathetic and lead by asking questions. With digital sales transformation, they have the opportunity to have a better work-life balance. They no more have to fear for their safety or dirty loos because digital selling takes all those scary stuff away!

There are a lot of things that were never thought about from the lens of a woman because they came in as a late entrant into the sales and business development world, which was a typical man's world. It still is a boys club out there but there are a few things that we can do differently starting from raising awareness, advocating policy changes, and making sales a gender-neutral business vertical.
