Digital Realty + DuPont Fabros: What it Means
Digital Realty announced on Friday it will merge with DuPont Fabros, a US leading data center operator. Both data center operators are leaders in the industry, and the move combines two of the largest providers in the space – both from a footprint and expertise perspective.
DuPont currently has twelve data centers providing 302 megawatts (MW) of commissioned power capacity, which are 98% leased. The merger will further separate Digital/DuPont from other competitors and give them increased opportunities with Fortune 500 companies. This is a big event in the data center industry and provides benefits for the new Digital Realty/DuPont Fabros for several reasons.
The merger not only reveals both the increased presence in top US markets that DLR/DFT will have and increased opportunity with hyper-scale cloud users, but also how merger and acquisition activity continues to change the data center industry. 7 年Each pre-engineered DC building we’ve manufactured (to date) has been somewhat unique in design and specification. It will be interesting to see if this merger helps drive a general design standard & specification for future project developers & A/E firms to reference and follow. We (NCI Building Systems) would be excited to help and be involved in that process.
