Digital Process Transformation

Today all organizations want to Digitally Transform and modernize. If anything, Covid has only accelerated the journey, it could be for something as simple as Work from Home or as complex as ensuring no disruption in business by ensuring un-interrupted Supply Chain and resiliency in processes. With pressure on spending, organizations need to derive higher value from their investments in technology.
There are a lot of Digital Process Transformation tools out there like BPM, RPA, OCR, DMS, Cognitive Services, Low Code, etc. which are evolving at a very rapid pace. They are adding enhanced capability in Process Mining, Discovery, Development, Deployment, Management, Automation, Integration, Analytics etc. The issue then is, why are customers still struggling to transform their processes?
Organizations and providers are approaching transformation with a short term, point solution view. Currently there is no one platform that provides a comprehensive set of the capabilities required for end to end process transformation. However, there is consolidation happening in this segment and my assessment is that in the next 6 to 12 months a set of providers will emerge who will provide an elegant comprehensive platform to support Digital process transformation :
To deliver higher value, the solution set should have the following capabilities:
All this within the following framework
The current providers have recognized these gaps and are working on enhancing their solution set to support end to end process transformation. For Eg, The BPM vendors are enhancing their RPA capabilities, the RPA vendors are working on human in the loop processes and all vendors are working on leveraging the latest technologies to make their product framework and the end result more effective.
Organizations have to keep a long term view and choose the right solution which can support all parts of the process transformation journey. This is one of the most important decisions organizations would take, else they will end up with many point solutions, that will create a bigger problem in the long run than what they set out to resolve in the first place.

4 年Very nice article clearly outlining market needs. In addition to looking at long term view, one of the important things to consider is evolving end consumer needs and expectations.

4 年Good note. Very very important . In chase of Digitalization organization will end up with spaghetti of point solutions with digitization instead of Digitalization.
