Digital Planning Directory and Landcycle.com

Landcycle.com is pleased to be part of the Digital Planning Directory which was launched last week by the Digital Task Force for Planning which is co-founded and run by Dr Wei Yang.

The Digital Planning Directory is seed funded by the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government whose involvement recognises the need for the planning service in the UK to embrace the advancement of technology in planning.

During the directory launch on 22nd January 2025 the attendees learnt of the inertia that exists in council’s planning departments, towards the advancement of planning and the planning application process when using and embracing digital services. ?The biggest reason cited was the lack of knowledge and experience amongst planning departments and the fact that they simply don’t know what technology is available, trustworthy and reliable.

The Digital Planning Directory serves to create a showcase of already ‘validated’ companies and products that can be trusted to be incorporated into public and private planning practice.

The Digital Planning Directory categorises areas of service under separate designations, such as Community Engagement, GIS, 3D modelling, Environmental, Planning and Urban Design, Land Search and Assessment, AI, Plan Making and Data Management Services, Organisational Digital Transformation and Digital Twins.

Landcycle.com is perhaps one of the most ‘philanthropic’ listed services, due to its no cost subscription fee. It seeks to encapsulate the ethos of the Directory by delivering and showcasing services such as Land Search, Planning Application and data management and Geographical Information Systems and Mapping, all in once place.

An example, Landcycle.com has created an effortless strategic land valuation algorithm so that any property over 10 acres is valued with one click of a button.? This is an important tool for local planning authorities when deciding the viability of strategic sites during their allocation process.? Landcycle also has almost all of the planning constraint layers available at the click of a button to demonstrate the suitability of sites compared with others that Local Authorities may be considering during the Sustainability Appraisal process and during site selection.

We were drawn to landcycle because of its low cost usage structure, meaning it can be tried and tested by private companies and Local Authorities at virtually no cost.
