Digital is not the NHS's silver bullet - Digital technology in the NHS is a paradox. On the one hand, it's hailed as a catalyst for change, a beacon of innovation that promises to streamline processes, improve patient outcomes, and reduce costs. On the other hand, it's often seen as a barrier, a stumbling block that hinders progress and maintains the status quo.

Keir Starmer's Tech-centric NHS Reforms ?-?A promising proposal is on the table for the NHS – leveraging technology for enhanced service delivery. Starmer's pledge is a step towards a digital-first NHS, a significant shift from traditional practices. As promising as this sounds, robust and innovative tech infrastructure will be needed to drive successful outcomes.

NHS Trusts to Get Own FDP ?-?Furthering the digital push, NHS England is setting up each Trust with its own Front Door Portal (FDP). This move signifies an effort towards decentralising control and boosting the autonomy of individual trusts. However, the challenge lies in standardising these portals for consistency of care.

Cyted's Funding Success ?-?Cyted's recent funding round is a testament to the increasing investor interest in the cancer diagnostic field. Such investment enables the growth of AI-powered diagnostics, potentially revolutionising early cancer detection.

NHS Patients Getting More Control Over Their Care ?-?Empowering patients by giving them control over their care is a crucial pillar of modern healthcare. The NHS's initiative is a progressive move that sets the stage for a more patient-centric healthcare system.

Partnership over Profit in Health Tech Investment ?-?The paradigm is shifting for health tech startups seeking investment. Rather than pure profit, investors are looking for startups that can demonstrate a potential for beneficial partnerships.

Health Tech Startups and Digital Health Investment ?-?The health tech industry is rapidly evolving, and investors are taking notice. Digital health startups are attracting substantial investment, fuelling innovation and growth within the industry.

The Transformation of HealthTech by Gen AI ?-?AI is proving to be a game-changer in health tech. Gen AI's contribution is pivotal with its potential to drive personalised care, improve diagnostics, and streamline processes.

Thanks for this - what a great trend watch! Totally agree with Jeetendra's point (in the comments) on prevention as the underlying ethos for the future of health care. This is where the UK local gov and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) - and now known as the Integrated Care Systems (ICS) - have been focusing on since covid. Better data sharing amongst the care ecosystem constituents is crucial, and that ought to be in balance with data protection and cyber security measures. There is a huge disparity of data maturity amongst the agents in the ecosystem. Getting that right will unlock many opportunities for automation, predictive and explainable AI applications, which will genuinely improve the patient care journey; as well as lessen the clinical and clinical admin teams' burdens owing to poor tech implementations in the past. Lastly, applying the design thinking and human centred approaches will help us bring the people, tech and data together, so that we are not creating new digital exclusions that leads to more inequality and access issues.

We can reap long term benefits by a major focus of all efforts on prevention - including that for the healthy population. Access to some health critical checks, and recommendations should be given to them, with followup discipline especially for those who might be at higher risk. Ideally, a lot of that should be free, for some time, and is possible to execute using the internet, and apps. How we design the solutions, and the strategy of execution would also affect how useful technology can be.
