Digital Marketing Weekly Roundup #4

Digital Marketing Weekly Roundup #4

It’s been over a month since Universal Analytics was permanently shut down on July 1, 2024. All data is now gone, forcing people to transition to GA4. Our CEO, Phil Pearce , has shared a helpful post comparing Universal Analytics reports with GA4 reports to guide you through the change.

Monday Poll Result

This week, we asked: Which tag management solution has the best features for your needs?

?? Here are the results ??

1?? Google Tag Manager: 85.44%

2?? Tealium: 7.77%

3?? Adobe Launch: 5.83%

4?? Others: 0.97%

We received 103 responses combined from polls on the MeasureMinds Group's page and Phil Pearce's account. It’s great to see Google Tag Manager coming out on top. This is especially encouraging for us since GTM is one of our core areas of expertise at MeasureMinds.

Nate Tower commented on the poll, highlighting how GTM has become very user-friendly and powerful over the years. According to Nate, “Unless you are an Adobe Analytics or Adobe Experience customer, I see no reason to use Adobe Launch at this point.” His perspective reinforces why GTM is the preferred choice for so many professionals today.

1. Thanks, Google – but we’re keeping these 5 post-cookie initiatives - Laura Schiele , Search Engine Land .

Google’s decision to extend third-party cookies is a temporary relief, but it’s important to focus on more sustainable strategies. This article outlines five key initiatives to future-proof your analytics:

  • Server-side tracking for first-party data
  • Advanced platform analytics with tools like Enhanced Conversions and CAPI
  • A broader perspective on analytics, including lift tests and MMM tools
  • Alignment on KPIs
  • Continuous monitoring of industry news and trends

These initiatives will keep your analytics robust, even as cookies eventually disappear. Check it out!

2. Server-Side Tracking to Counter 3rd Party Cookie Blocking - Sahil Bajaj , Shiprocket

As third-party cookies will fade away eventually, businesses will face the challenge of maintaining accurate data and personalised customer experiences. Server-side tracking offers a powerful solution by collecting data directly on your server, bypassing the limitations of browser-based cookies.

It ensures compliance with privacy regulations, improves data reliability, and strengthens your marketing strategies. For an in-depth understanding of how server-side tracking can future-proof your business, check out this article.

That’s it for this week's roundup. Au revoir!
