One of the challenges marketing professionals face every day is staying on top of the leading digital marketing trends. Based on my experience working with clients and keeping up-to-date on trends through marketing blogs and other sources, I summarized some of the most prominent trends you can expect in 2020.
User Experience (UX)
Despite technological advances coming at a rapid pace, the user's experience is vital to a brand's success. Every step of the way, digital marketers need to focus on UX marketing strategies to ensure success while retaining their current & prospective customer base.
Augmented and Virtual Reality-Based Marketing
Not only is AR and VR here to stay — it will continue to grow exponentially. Consumers want to be engaged, and AV/VR technologies, when done effectively, can enhance the user's experience tremendously.
User-Generated Content (UGC)
60% of consumers think UGC is more authentic & trustworthy than hearing the voice of corporate/brand communications. As a result, users will continue to focus on reviews, ratings, influencers, and social media posts to get their information. What this means to you -- build your trust and expertise every step of the way.
Minimalism
As we continue to navigate the overloaded information highway, take heed that less can be more. Communications need to be brief, concise, and easy to understand.
Smart Speakers
Alexa, Siri, and Google have had market domination for years. As you identify your digital strategic imperatives, look at ways that you can disseminate your information via smart speakers and/or voice interface technology.
Privacy and Trust Needs to be Earned
Speaking of smart speakers, consumers are aware that big brother can be listening 24/7. Given that there have been so many lapses in the protection of private user data, people have become extremely wary of providing their information online. Make sure your digital strategy includes a plan to build trust with your audience, or else they may quickly get disengaged and go to another source perceived as more trustworthy.
