Digital Marketing Tips for June 2
I promise simple, actionable digital marketing tips bi-weekly and here they are!
Some ways to get more followers:
- Post, with hashtags.
- Engaging with other accounts: finding them and commenting, following, DMing.
- Get other people to share your posts and account.
- Ads. Period.
- Influencer marketing: hire an influencer to talk about your brand or business. This usually leads to more followers than anything else.
- Email newsletters. Give people a reason to follow your channels.
- Offline events. For example, I can always count on a boost in followers when I speak at events.
- Putting your social handles in your email signature.
- Putting your social handles and encouragement to follow on printed materials.
- Cross pollinate: encourage followers on one platform to follow you on another.
To post Instagram reels on the newsfeed, or no? Instagram loves reels, but they can also serve two separate functions. If you post them in the newsfeed, they'll first be distributed to your followers, then show up in explore pages and suggested reels. This is a great way to entertain and delight your current following. If you restrict them from the newsfeed though, Instagram pushes them out to new accounts that don't follow you. This is a great way to delight and attract new audiences.
Update your Google Business listing! This platform is usually a one and done platform, but I still recommend updating it 1-2 times per year. You may want to update hours, services and products, business type/category, collect and respond to reviews, posts and events.
Number your Twitter threads. It helps with accessibility and providing value.
YouTube shorts are dominating! This is YouTube's response to TikTok and Instagram reels: short videos up to 60 seconds in length that are distributed more widely and follow each other like TikToks. If you can do a video in 60 seconds or less, go for it! Be sure to mix up shorts with other long form videos.
If you provide services, list them on your profile - and ask for reviews. Unfortunately the services must be ones LinkedIn recognizes, but if you can use them, then you can also ask for reviews and build social proof there.
Comment and let me know - were these helpful?
