Digital marketer personalities: which one are you?
I love early mornings, those weird morning hours where the whole world is asleep. Needless to say, I love such mornings especially when I get those aha! moment kind of ideas to not only kickstart the day but those ideas that define some interesting, cool stuff to do over the next few weeks or months.
So, today is one of those mornings where I am thinking about digital marketing, something that I have been involved in for quite a while now. I have had the opportunity to work with different teams and I have come to the realization that there are different digital marketer personalities.
I may point out that despite the fact that there are different types, you need to put them all in your arsenal especially if you are bootstrapping or do not have a big team.
Why rant on? Let’s dive right in.
The ‘doing it big’ guy or girl
This is the vision carrier, who carries the whole idea or picture and can convince you to visualize how the big project will come together. They are very good at creating the online marketing strategies and leading a team towards the vision.
The creative creative
This is not a typo by the way. I have worked with the ‘creative creative’ person on the team. This is the guy or girl who does an impeccable job with the details. They may want to work on their own, undisturbed. They may spend a lot of time on their work, resulting in longer turnaround times. The end product? Superb is an understatement.
The ‘bring it on’ guy or girl
This person on the team is all about deliverables. Need content to be scheduled in the next two hours? Consider it done. These people may not be creative or have different ways to do something, but you need them to meet deadlines.
The passionate idea machine
Well, it may not be a good idea to call a human being a machine, the rate at which this person generates ideas is well, too fast, sometimes keeping up may be difficult. This is the person who is creative, not too much to the extent of the creative creative'', but they love digital marketing so much, that their passion is almost unstoppable. They will always find better ways to do one thing, and they will keep sharing it. You will feel the passion every time they have a new idea.
The numbers freak
Over time, I have come to appreciate the value of numbers and the insights that you can derive from them. This person in your team cares about the numbers that you are hitting, and how you can improve them. They will be highly analytical and will need to see continuous improvement.
All in all
As mentioned above, you basically have a well-balanced digital marketing team if you have all the above personalities represented. If you do not have all the personalities, you may bring in someone else or find out who could have more than one personality type in order to make up for what’s missing.
