Have you heard of Digital IQ? If you work in today's business world, you likely have. I gained deeper insights into this concept while studying digital transformation at PECB .
What does it really mean? It's more than just being tech-savvy. It's about:
?? Understanding: How digital technologies are shaping our world from various perspectives and across different environments.
?? Adapting: Being able to use those technologies to solve problems, innovate, and create new opportunities with agility.
?? Strategizing: Seeing the bigger picture (this is critical) – how digital fits into your company's and individual's overall goals and future. Ineffective 'strategizing' could be one of the reasons why almost 70% of digital transformations do not accomplish their objectives, according to BCG Research.
Why is Digital IQ so important? Simply put, it's the key to staying relevant and competitive. Businesses with a high Digital IQ are more likely to:
?? Attract and retain top talent: Today, digital skills are in high demand 'everywhere you go'.
?? Innovate and grow: Digital tools can unlock new business models, new markets and revenue streams.

??? Build resilience: Businesses that embrace digital are better equipped to weather disruptions and operational shocks.
So, how's your Digital IQ? If you're not sure, don't worry! It's a journey, not a destination. Here are a few tips for boosting yours:
?? Stay curious: Keep up with the latest digital trends and technologies. Sign up for different newsletters and attend webinars/ conferences that align with your areas of interest in tech.
?? Experiment: Don't be afraid to try new tools and platforms. Adopt the philosophy of failing forward.
?? Invest in learning: Take courses, attend conferences, and network with other digital professionals. In addition, have an 'experimental + learning' budget in your monthly or quarterly budget as a professional for learning new things. As a company, have a provision for a 'pilot budget' in your annual budgets, specifically designed for experimental or trial digital activities.
Remember, Digital IQ isn't just about technology – it's about mindset and adaptability. In today's fast-paced digital world, the ability to learn and evolve is more valuable than ever.
