Digital Healthcare – there is no turning back, just bumps in the road

Digital Healthcare – there is no turning back, just bumps in the road

Around 7 years ago, I feel like I stumbled into the potential role digital could play in healthcare and I was hooked. We all recognize our experience of managing our health can be better than it is today - and digital should be part of that transformed expectation. I have had the chance to work with brilliant innovators who are driven to solve this need state. When you have a consumer pull & a mature technological foundation, then you have fertile ground for innovation. Digital healthcare – there is no turning back, just bumps in the road.?

During recent years, a lot has happened. The investments being made in digital healthcare are fueling many innovative startups to solve for unique problems. Business models have started to emerge that are incentivizing and rewarding this market to go further.?Policy makers are playing a key role in promoting this new sector – the willingness to listen to stakeholders and to adapt approaches is accelerating the speed at which market maturity is approaching. And then there was COVID – while we will all reflect on this period with a mix of feelings, I do believe it cemented the expectation of us all that technology is ready now to positively impact the healthcare experience.

Put simply – if you fast forward 10 years, do you believe the healthcare experience will be as it is today? We are living through the early stages of healthcare being transformed through digital approaches… And, I know I am not the only person to believe in that! The many great people I work with & meet in this area share the same conviction & passion. We all learn fast that innovating is not the easy path, but when surrounded by inspiring people with a shared purpose, there is no limit to what we can collectively achieve!

Thank you Alexander Condoleon for sharing these reflections. Scaling up digital solutions to treat and prevent mental disorders is one of many opportunities - e.g. https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/4-ways-scale-up-music-mental-health-care-omniselfcare/

Alexander Condoleon great reflexion. We tend to overestimate what we can accomplish in 1 year but grossly underestimate the change that we can effect in 10 years. I am certain of the impact we can have in transforming the healthcare ecosystem.

Alexander Condoleon your question is a powerful call for action: "If you fast forward 10 years, do you believe the healthcare experience will be as it is today?" I believe, life is and should be considered as a health and care experience. There's no separate life and health journeys. Working in the digital healthcare space, we have the unique opportunity to infuse all areas of today's hyper-connected lifestyle with health and care, so that health & care routines seamlessly fit into lives of persons living with healh related challenges and diseases. Onwards!
