Digital Everything
Attending TED after just finishing Kara's Burn Book had me reflecting on her comment that everything will be digital. I started keeping a list of the surprising use cases I saw proving her right.
This was just the 2024 conference but as you overlay this to Khosla's view of the future you might begin to see why I'm so compelled to think of the future as one that is inherently data driven.
Understanding how to capture and leverage data to make better decisions is the future we need to prepare for now. It's time to add data + storytelling to your personal skills development plan.
I see a future that has us able to inspire and inform like Hans Rosling and a world where we get better at looking for anti-patterns (and trying to avoid too much enshittification) to drive more sustainable and valuable solutions for our future.
Pacing and minding the gaps????

10 个月I started a book that is about Data + Storytelling: "Making Numbers Count" by Chip Heath & Karla Starr. It is powerful, but as with many of these types of reads, I think I will need to read a few times to start "doing." https://heathbrothers.com/making-numbers-count/
I turn potential into momentum. Your idea. Your audience. Your future.
10 个月yes, and....it's worth remembering the adage, "we buy on emotion and justify on fact" My review of my notes from TED showed a distinct correlation (data) between how many people stood up and clapped at the end of each talk (except the artists - everyone stood for them) and how they spoke to the audience. Your idea and your data might be just what the world needs, but if people can't see themselves in it, they'll only applaud. To get a standing O the audience needed: - to be intrigued by your idea - hear the invitation to play with your idea Building the future is a collaborative act.
