Digital Dimensional Record of Pipe Ends vs Visual
Common oilfield inspection techniques, miss the ends or are unable to resolve the ends. Often leaving the result to a visual. BEMIS scanners can quickly scan the ID of ends of pipe with millions of laser measurements to give a quantitative digital dimensional record. The above 3D can be performed in under a minute and each color is a different radii on the below color palate. The data can also be dumped in a .txt file to be loaded into FMEA's. The granularity on the threads is due to the pipe dope residue. This same record can be taken on auxiliary line stabs on riser, drillpipe, OCTG (coupled or integral), and independent of material type. Are you seeing wireline cuts under the pin? pitting in the D1 area? erosion on the ends?
