The Body Wash Genie: Guys Only Want One Thing
Dr. Squatch just put on a masterclass of marketing this week. They launched their new body wash and used a unique celebrity to endorse. Let me give you some backstory. Dr. Squatch is brand of mens soaps, known for being a manly brand with manly scents and manly marketing. Their target audience: Men. What do men like? I'll wait. Think about it a little bit more. Answer: Sydney Sweeney. Dr. Squatch hired one of the hottest women in Hollywood right now to be the face of their new body wash. If you haven't seen the new ad, check it out, it's hilarious and perfectly directed towards their target audience. Here's my brief two cents. This is perfect because Sydney Sweeney appeals to Dr. Squatchs' target audience, simple as that. The ad has millions of views on every single platform and will continue to make headlines. Last but not least, this is a super controversial move and will get people talking more and more.
How To Handle Disasters (As A Business)
As we all know a hurricane has swept the south eastern region of the USA and has caused catastrophic damage, primarily in the Carolinas. Sadness, tragedy, and misfortune are realities of life, how to we as business owners handle these things. Specifically from a marketing perspective. There are entire public relations companies who's entire jobs are to handle disasters for large corporations. You may ask yourself as a small business or entrepreneur how do I effectively handle something like a natural disaster, or do I even need to handle it. First question you need to ask yourself is, "Is this relevant to me?" If this has nothing to do with you it's safe to say if you want to remain silent it's okay to do so. But if this event has impacted you, your business, or anyone around you it may be adventitious to speak up or even do something about it. Customers and consumers will enjoy seeing a personal and more empathetic version of yourself. Show you care. A good friend of mine is the CMO of a drink company located in the Carolinas, his company halted production and filled over 20,000 cans with clean drinking water to send to those in hurricane effective areas, and made a great video about it. This is a prime example of how to handle sadness, tragedy, or a natural disaster.
