Digital Age: The Economics of Working Hours

We are migrating to the future digital age, which is powered by AI information engine like Chat GPT and other social media platforms. ??These platforms are fueled by collective society knowledge and as the engine is fed (with people's knowledge and experience) a richer and richer fuel every day it becomes more and more useful and effective.

People of today and future will carry a “Mental Model” of work and outcome, the degree of accuracy in this model will reflect the collective level of knowledge in the society across different levels. Today our mind is trained to process far more information and with extremely high rate of speed. This is due to availability of collective knowledge of information and solution thrown towards us through social media and other platforms. “We as workers are connected to the knowledge of society to bring the outcome swiftly and faster”.

Example: Today ChatGPT can write letters, Company Performance report in minutes which used to take hours or days.

Earlier the people used to spend more time and energy in completing the task as knowledge dissemination was slow and one used to be under pressure to bring them in line with the latest knowledge available in the society and one had to work harder and harder to make his own model to cope with new work. Today slightest of change and new knowledge is disseminated swiftly and fast that yesterday’s fiction becomes today’s truth hence each one is working as collective society and not as an individual. When we are working as collective society our collective productivity and turnover is much higher than earlier times.

The society itself is shifting from work orientation towards greater involvement in leisure and other social activities. ?This also help contribute new ideas and problem-solving experience. The new age AI technology will help redeployment of saved time and energy towards leisure and will have new way of working in future.
