Orica and Caterpillar Inc. have joined forces to enhance real-time data exchange and develop integrated workflows across the mining value chain. This collaboration is geared towards providing customers with intelligence to elevate decision-making and optimize overall operations.

As the mining industry increasingly taps into the potential of combining data, sensors, and intelligence, digitally integrated workflows are becoming crucial for achieving significant improvements in safety, productivity, recovery, and sustainability outcomes. Orica and Caterpillar have signed an MoU to explore opportunities for integration, initially focusing on Orica’s Rhino?, BlastIQ?, FRAGTrack?, and Cat? MineStar? Terrain technologies. This integrated workflow promises high-fidelity rock property information, leading to substantial enhancements in on-bench safety, drilling and blasting program accuracy and productivity, and higher quality blast outcomes that generate enhanced mill performance.

Looking ahead, both companies plan to extend their collaboration to optimize the entire value chain, from mine to mill. This aligns with their shared commitment to creating sustainable solutions and services that drive the momentum for a more intelligent and solution-driven mining ecosystem.

The integration includes innovative technologies such as Cat? MineStar? Terrain for drilling precision guidance, Orica’s Rhino? sensor for unconfined compressive strength information, BlastIQ? for continuous improvement of blasting outcomes, and FRAGTrack? for accurate fragmentation size distributions.
