Difficulty of being Good, How I see

A timeless book and reference manual for me, over multiple occasions of life. This is a dilemma which all of us face often in our lives - why and how to be good in this world? How do we balance in an arbitrary and uncertain world?

?There are many occasions in our life, where we are tempted to push back people, dominate conversations, run out of patience and lead unliterally with our point of view, because it is not easy to be Good. It is an uphill task to be Good, thinking before acting, listening before saying, being empathetic to everyone. It is time-consuming and takes a lot of practice to lead such a life.

Borrowing wisdom from the book, I was thinking deeper around "Good v/s not being Good", not because one has benefits over other but more for having my own happiness and peace when I hit bed at night.

?So, who are nice "Good" people, in classic definition kind, emotionally sensitive, and caring about others. There is also a saying that?"Nice guys come last", this is applicable provided you are running the race and competing with someone.... If you are competing with only yourself then you never come last (or first). You only move forward at your own pace and in that case, there is no need to be "not being Good/nice"...it's like "joy of giving"...by being good you give happiness to others and self.

?I don't think there is one way or another to live life. We are not either Good or Not so Good. This is a behavior, which varies depending on the situation, people and environment we operate in. For example, we might have a high tolerance towards are kid making a mistake vs team member/peers.

?Over multiple years of my experience working across organizations and managing teams directly and in-directly, I am often attributed as a “Collaborative and leading with Empathy" individual. Many people ask me how I do that. My secrete is practice staying Good in every situation. Trust me, it is not easy, because you are always tempted to take shortcuts and move ahead.

Good or bad choice is not easy, slowly and gradually we will get there.
