Differentiating from the Technology & Security Services Herd
One of the questions TeamLogic IT at Denver Tech Center receives when meeting potential prospects is what differentiates us. A good and valid question that we put a lot of thought into when we first started this expansion. Being based in Denver, one of the most competitive technology markets there is, differentiation is key. You have a plethora of other providers, so why TeamLogic IT at DTC?
Being an investor and small business owner ourselves, we put ourself in the shoes of the people who are buying our services. Fortunately, I work in tech, and tightly hold all the security and technology that our business uses, only sharing what we have to. But our clients choose to completely (almost blindly) trust in us that we will take care of one of the most important assets of their organization. Every time I think of that I get a bit of a chill as we're growing fast and every week more clients put their trust in us with credentials, data, operations systems, etc. Fortunately, in today's world with artificial intelligence, automation, and other systems, we are able to always (24x7) have eyes on clients' systems. We know when backups fail, security patches haven't been applied, or that disk space is filling up that could make a manufacturing production line go down, which is completely unacceptable. One of the biggest differentiators for us is being proactive. If you told me that I could only have one KPI to watch all of our clients by it would be how often do we find and correct issues for our clients before they ever knew the issue happened to begin with. Right now we hover around 80% of the time this being the case, with our goal to reach 90%. That is an incredible statistic compared to what we used to be able to do even 10 years ago.
The second area of differentiation is definitely service. I come from a world where service is everything and if you commit to do something, you better do it, and do it properly. But what makes us stand out with service is that every request we get or issue that comes in, we take a broader look at what is best for the organization. An example is a client asking us to order a server with x, y, z parameters. We then politely ask a few probing questions about what the server will be used for, how many users, etc., and come to find out we can virtualize a server on another of their servers at no cost. This is one of the reasons that every one of our ongoing clients have come from other IT providers or internal IT departments to begin with. We think strategically, speak in business terms, and deliver the right solutions for the situation. Another major advantage for us is that each client has a focused team of 2/ 3 engineers, yet has access to over 800 engineers across the nation. Technology, compliance, and security have become so complex, that if you really want to be a one stop shop for clients, you must have breadth and depth across a massive area of technology and security disciplines. Very few providers have this capability.
The last area is security, an area we take to the extremes. It has been quite unfortunate to see the state of clients that came from other providers and see how their security and business continuity was operating. One example is where backups were backing up every day, but when we did a business continuity test to see if we could restore a business in the event of a complete disaster, it would have only brought the company back to 2017. This is an area that we do not compromise on and we share that with prospects during our initial discussions. There is no opting out of basic security protocols, processes, and technology that can help minimize any chance of a breach or recovery operation.
One of the reasons that we chose Denver to invest and start our expansion in the IT service space is we knew, given the competitiveness, that if we could succeed here with our model, then it would work in any market. We have been very fortunate, even during the pandemic, and look forward to sharing our model with more clients in the months and years ahead.
