DON'T BE BETTER; BE DIFFERENT!
Yup, the key to differentiating your business from other businesses is not being better, it’s being different.
Let me explain.
It is very difficult, or even impossible, to prove to your potential clients and customers that you are better than the next guy. The only way for a customer to determine that is AFTER they already used your products or services.
However, what you can- and should- convey to potential customers is how you are different from everyone else. That can be done even before they decide to give you a chance, and that can give you an edge in being chosen by potential clients and customers as the business of choice for their needs.
This simple idea is totally overlooked by many businesses in their quest to snare new customers, and they expend so much energy on shouting to the world how great they are, when all they needed to do was quietly whisper to the world how different their approach is. Those whispers are noticed and heard.
Consider the following items, to make your business stand out from the crowd and proclaim its uniqueness
1)??Zone in on your target market.
Find your niche and specialize in it. Focus on all areas of that niche that service the customer base that is looking to be serviced in that niche. Once you establish yourself as the company that ?services that niche, the customers will be flocking to you, and you will be able to build a strong base which is the key to slow and steady growth.
2)??Focus on strong customer service
Stop trying to show off how much better or cheaper you are than the competition. Just make your customer service experience , an experience that wows your customers. That reputation will get out there and make more customers flock your way. Every customer wants to be treated like your best customer. Give them that feeling
3)??Don’t sell stuff; solve stuff
Whatever you sell or whatever service you offer make sure it is a solution to a problem. Once you are known as the solution provider, those seeking that solution will flock to you. Hone your solution skills. Offer them faster and with desired results, and your stuff will sell itself.
4)??Think outside the box
Innovate. Continuously improve your processes and your customers will love that you are working diligently to deliver the results they seek. The world around us is constantly evolving. Make sure your business has its finger on the pulse. Just because you did something a certain way for years, doesn’t mean it is the right way to do it still nowadays. If you are lazily operating the same way day-in, day-out, your customers and even potential customers will notice and flee.
5)??Be easy going
Make sure you and all the people in your business are pleasant and easy to deal with. Be accessible via phone, email and other channels. When customers enjoy dealing with you and leave every interaction with you feeling that you care about them, they tend to stick with you, and they tend to share their experiences with others too.
