A Different World

Time goes by slowly but you look back and it doesn't feel so long ago...

Someone in my high school Whatsapp chat shared a meme that we're closer to 2050 than 1996. As much as the world looks different now to the world of 1996, that may be nothing compared to the difference between now and another 20ish years out.

Changing demographics and population centers will have massive spillover effects and reverberations around the world.

China's population has already begun declining - while aging rapidly:

We've got hundreds of millions of people around the world will be living longer lives and they are nowhere near ready for that next life stage; financially, mentally, physically, socially. We have to do some thinking about what can get people prepared for exactly what's coming. Longevity literacy, a new phrase (at least to me) we will be hearing in the years to come.

Having resources and the conversation spring up and take place is so important so I was glad to see Ryan Patel mention it here:

These are just estimations and things can change but this seems within reason. The big question everyone and every business and every government should have is, are we prepared - financially, socially, environmentally? How can we start to get ready for this new world?

Ira Sobel is another resource that must be followed, here and her fintech for longevity platform.

We are living through individual and global transitions. Even with all the tech and innovation that will enhance, enable and ease this process, the key to remember is that we are dealing with humans; with lives, loved ones. We all have the desire to live lives of significance, share our blessings, create a legacy. What happens between now and 2050 will go a long way to determine whether we used this opportunity the right ways.

I had thought I wouldn't do a newsletter this week as I'm traveling but wanted to share these thoughts real quick. Hope you enjoyed. Will be out all next week.
