Different Ways to Display Hyperlinks in Power BI

Did you know you can customize hyperlinks in Power BI tables and matrices?

Here's a quick guide to displaying them your way:

Creating Hyperlinks

  1. Identify the URL column: Ensure you have a column containing web addresses.
  2. Format as Web URL: In the Data view, select the column and set its data category to "Web URL."

Display Options

  • Full URL: The default.
  • Icon: Replace the URL with an icon.
  • Formatted Text: Link specific text within a column.

Displaying as an Icon

  1. Create a table: Include the hyperlink column.
  2. Format: Select the table, go to the Format tab, expand "Values," and turn on "URL icon."

Formatting Text as a Hyperlink

  1. Uncategorize the column: In Data view, set the column's data category to "Uncategorized."
  2. Create a table: Include the column you want to format.
  3. Conditional formatting: Select the table, go to the Format tab, expand "Conditional formatting," and turn on "Web URL."
  4. Set the URL field: In the "Web URL" dialog, select the column containing the URLs.

Now you can customize hyperlinks to enhance your Power BI reports!
