A Different Way to Learn LEGO Serious Play

A Different Way to Learn LEGO Serious Play

My 2020 has been all about making the LEGO Serious Play method more accessible to people. A big part of that was the book I wrote, The LSP Method. But another important part was providing an alternative way for people to take LEGO Serious Play training.

For the last 10 years the only way to learn and get certified in LEGO Serious Play was through a 2, 3, or 4 day traditional in person course. They can be expensive and were only available at select locations and times.

In person courses are a great learning experience. I know because I’ve run LSP certification courses since 2015. But I always felt there had to be other ways for people to learn the method. In 2016 I started a self paced online course where people would watch videos, practise when they could and have me there as coach to ask questions and provide support.

It’s been a successful alternative path for many people to learn LEGO Serious Play. But I’ve never really promoted the course. I always felt it was a good course, but I wanted it to be even better.

Three weeks ago I re-launched my online course on a new platform and it’s been amazing. I’ve had a handful of people going through and the interaction and sense of being right there with them as coach, being apart of their learning journey, is amazing.

The online certification course is self paced with videos, activities, questions, models to build and share, sessions to run outside in the “real world”, sessions to design and more.

I’m really proud to have this course sit alongside the in person LSP courses as a different way for people to learn the method. People who value flexibility and want to learn at their own pace. The end result is people come out of the course certified in LEGO Serious Play and on par with the in person courses. It’s just a different path to get there.

To me it feels like a beautiful blend of coaching, a “course” and real experiences as people implement their learning in the real world. Some people power through it “netflix binge” style and others take their time and soak it up over months.

It does take a certain type of person to want to learn this way. They need to be self motivated. There is no single learning event pushing them along. They need to want to dive in and practise in the real world. But for those smart, willing, capable and enthusiastic learners, there’s now another avenue to learn the LEGO Serious Play method.

Oh and did I mention it’s about half the cost of the in person courses. It’s all digital and online and so with few overheads, the course is only $899 USD. As compared to the several thousand it usually costs.

That’s what I aimed for: making LEGO Serious Play accessible to more people. Whether through flexibility of learning or though the cost. Or both! as I’m doing with this course.

If you’re interested in checking out the course you can sign up for 30-days to test it out. If after that you find it wasn’t your cup of tea you can get a complete refund, no questions.

Head over to www.lspmethod.com/course for more details and to sign up.

I feel privilege to think that I get to be part of people’s learning journey and get to see what impact they make with their new LEGO Serious Play skills.

In 2015, Michael Fearne ran Lego Serious Play sessions with my classes at GA. It was invaluable as a way to understand and see the way they were thinking of their careers. If you have the chance, learn this method to bring out more from your workshops.
