Different Types of Hydraulic Motor
Hydraulic Motor is one of essential motors, used in industrial applications, across industries, across the globe. The motor translates the kinetic energy into the mechanical energy. It is, in fact, an actuator, which alters the hydraulic pressure into torque and rotation. Actuator manipulates the rotation and speed of a motor.
Hydraulic motor can be used interchangeably with hydraulic pumps, because they can efficiently work as a hydraulic pump. Reversely, hydraulic pumps can not be used as hydraulic motors. There are different types of hydraulic motors, as –
Gear & Vane Motor – It is a simple, plain, low-cost, and high-RPM rotating system. It is used where simple rotation is required.
Gerotor Motors – Technically pronounced as Generated Rotor Motor, Gerotor Motors have two rotors: inner and outer. In this type of motor, the inner rotor has ‘N’ number of teeth, and the outer motor has ‘N+1’ number of teeth. It can also work as a piston-less rotary engine. It is widely used in oil pumps, high-speed gas compressors, and vehicles’ power steering, etc.
Axial Plunger Motors – Used for high-quality, accurate driving system, Plunger Motors are one of the most popular hydraulic motors. Because of the high RPM, using a gear box with the Axial Plunger Motor becomes essential.
Radial Piston Motors – Radial Piston Engine is type of motor in which the cylinder radiate outward from a central crankcase. It looks like a star, and thereby, also called as start engine. Most commonly, used in aircraft engines, before the turbines.
